CLASSROOM NOTES and HOMEWORK

Welcome to 1G’s  First Grade:

NOTES AND REMINDERS:

  • Students should be dressed in gym uniforms on Monday of each week.  Please be sure to label their sweat shirts.  Students may bring a water bottle labeled with their name on the outside to use during gym.

  • Please check your child’s Daily Folder each day after school.   After checking on your child’s behavior for the day you need to initial the calendar box and return the chart to their Daily Folder.

  • The math book is used for daily Math Homework that  should be completed as assigned.  Students should be able to do the assigned pages independently as it is a chance for them to review and practice what we learned in class.  Keep the book at home and tear out the page after it is completed for my review. (Keeping the book at home seems to work best for the students. It eliminates the problem of  forgetting to pack it at the end of our day.)

  • First grade lunch is at 11:40  and recess is at 12:05- 12:30.  We will go out for recess with the second grade.  Parents who are helping with recess duty can meet the students outside (back play area) for their recess.   Children may bring toys to school for recess as we discussed at BTS.
  • This week, we will be finishing chapter 2 in math which is subtraction concepts, and will have a math test on Friday.   Do the nightly HW assignments as listed.

  • We will be having our first spelling test on Unit 1 pattern and memory words on Tuesday.  I will give students a homework assignment on Monday night to help them study, and prepare for this test.

  • Students should be using the online component for Superkids at home to play the online games and to read too.  As we discussed at Back to School Night this is a really great way to strengthen the skills we are learning in class.

  • Your child brought home their pencil case on Friday,  please remember to sharpen their pencils for the upcoming week.

  • October is Socktober here at SJRS so if possible send in a pair or two of new socks to share with those in need.   We will be  talking about sharing and helping others in Religion this week so it would be a perfect thing to do with your child.   It feels great to serve others, and it starts now!

  • Don’t forget to let me know which Saint your child is going to be for the Saint’s Day Celebration.
