CLASSROOM NOTES and HOMEWORK

Welcome to 1G’s  First Grade:

NOTES AND REMINDERS:

  • Students should be dressed in gym uniforms on Monday of each week.  Please be sure to label their sweat shirts.  Students may bring a water bottle labeled with their name on the outside to use during gym.

  • Please check your child’s Daily Folder each day after school.   After checking on your child’s behavior for the day you need to initial the calendar box and return the chart to their Daily Folder.

  • The math book is used for daily Math Homework that  should be completed as assigned.  Students should be able to do the assigned pages independently as it is a chance for them to review and practice what we learned in class.  Keep the book at home and tear out the page after it is completed for my review. (Keeping the book at home seems to work best for the students. It eliminates the problem of  forgetting to pack it at the end of our day.)

  • First grade lunch is at 11:40  and recess is at 12:05- 12:30.  We will go out for recess with the second grade.  Parents who are helping with recess duty can meet the students outside (back play area) for their recess.   Children may bring toys to school for recess as we discussed at BTS.

  • Students should be using the online component for Superkids at home to play the online games and to read too.  As we discussed at Back to School Night this is a really great way to strengthen the skills we are learning in class.

  • Your child brought home their pencil case on Friday,  please remember to sharpen their pencils for the upcoming week.

  • NEW THIS WEEK  –  4/15/19
  • Please have your child wear gym uniforms to school both Monday and Tuesday this week 4/16/19.

  •  One child will bring Flat Francis home each week to spend time with them and their family.  The take home packet includes prayers and the Flat Francis Paper Doll.  The goal is to have students pray with Flat Francis and to include him in family time while he is at their home.  Each child will take some pictures of their time with Flat Francis and share some of what was special about having him at home with the class when they return the packet to school.  Robert Scattone will bring Flat Francis home this week.

  • The weekly Star selected on Friday was Anthony Cincotta.   I will select a new Star this Wednesday before break.

  • We will be doing a Prayer Reflection for Holy Week on Tuesday afternoon.  See details as per the email that went home this past Friday afternoon.  You are invited to join us for this at 1:00 in the gym.

  • Parents if your child has a borrowed book from the Katie’s Korner library please be sure to return it to school once they have had a chance to read it at home.  They may keep it at home for a week.

  • Parent, be sure to check your child’s 3rd quarter report card 4/12/19 using the Ren Web site.  Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns regarding your child’s progress.

  •   We are going to be starting chapter ten in math which includes working with data and graphs, and at the same time we are going to be learning how to count coins up to $1.00 in like and mixed collections.   Look at math assignment each night before starting your homework because I will not be using the math workbook for some of these skills.

  • SAVE The DATES … May 31st 1G Spring Trip to the Cape May Zoo. All parents are invited to meet us there for the special day.  Details and permission slip will be sent home in April just wanting to give you ample notice to put on your schedules

  • Also, June 11th, 1:45p.m. for Author-Illustrator Day at school.

  • Happy Easter to everyone and have wonderful spring break.
