Debbi Gentile | First Grade

Debbi Gentile | First Grade

Welcome to 1G’s  First Grade:

  • Students should be dressed in gym uniforms on Monday of each week.  Please be sure to label their sweat shirts.  Students may bring a water bottle labeled with their name on the outside to use during gym.

  • Please check your child’s Daily Folder each day after school.   After checking on your child’s behavior for the day you need to initial the calendar box and return the chart to their Daily Folder.

  • The math book is used for daily Math Homework that  should be completed as assigned.  Students should be able to do the assigned pages independently as it is a chance for them to review and practice what we learned in class.  Keep the book at home and tear out the page after it is completed for my review. (Keeping the book at home seems to work best for the students. It eliminates the problem of  forgetting to pack it at the end of our day.)

  • First grade lunch is at 11:40  and recess is at 12:05- 12:30.  We will go out for recess with the second grade.  Parents who are helping with recess duty can meet the students outside (back play area) for their recess.   Children may bring toys to school for recess as we discussed at BTS.
  • Students should be using the online component for Superkids at home to play the online games and to read too.  As we discussed at Back to School Night this is a really great way to strengthen the skills we are learning in class.

  • Your child brought home their pencil case on Friday,  please remember to sharpen their pencils for the upcoming week.

  • NEW THIS WEEK  – 12/17/18

  • Pajama Drive was a success. The pajamas we collected were already picked up for distribution to children in our local area.  The program facilitator was very appreciative of our donation and was excited to be able to have them in time for a Christmas Party their agency was hosting.   Thanks to everyone who helped us with our Advent Outreach.

  • Last week was a fun one for everyone and this week in the Spirit of Christmas we have lots of festive events also.  I will not be giving students homework this week but hope that you will encourage them to read and review math facts over the Holiday Break.  Also, please have them use the Superkids site.  We will test on Unit 5 and 6 of Superkids when we return form break.

  • Thank you to everyone who helped with our movie trip and the holiday centers last week.

  • Remember that students are to wear Christmas Outfits for their Christmas Show next week.  The show for parents is on December 18th, 8:45 am.

  • Remember on Thursday December 20th at approx. 9:45 we are caroling at Shore Medical Center stop by for a listen if you can.

  • Friday is a Noon Dismissal and there is no ABC Program for students.
