Debbi Gentile | First Grade

Debbi Gentile | First Grade

Welcome to 1G’s  First Grade:

  • Students should be dressed in gym uniforms on Monday of each week.  Please be sure to label their sweat shirts.  Students may bring a water bottle labeled with their name on the outside to use during gym.

  • Please check your child’s Daily Folder each day after school.   After checking on your child’s behavior for the day you need to initial the calendar box and return the chart to their Daily Folder.

  • The math book is used for daily Math Homework that  should be completed as assigned.  Students should be able to do the assigned pages independently as it is a chance for them to review and practice what we learned in class.  Keep the book at home and tear out the page after it is completed for my review. (Keeping the book at home seems to work best for the students. It eliminates the problem of  forgetting to pack it at the end of our day.)

  • First grade lunch is at 11:40  and recess is at 12:05- 12:30.  We will go out for recess with the second grade.  Parents who are helping with recess duty can meet the students outside (back play area) for their recess.   Children may bring toys to school for recess as we discussed at BTS.

  • Students should be using the online component for Superkids at home to play the online games and to read too.  As we discussed at Back to School Night this is a really great way to strengthen the skills we are learning in class.

  • Your child brought home their pencil case on Friday,  please remember to sharpen their pencils for the upcoming week.

  • NEW THIS WEEK  –  2/12/19
  •  One child will bring Flat Francis home each week to spend time with them and their family.  The take home packet includes prayers and the Flat Francis Paper Doll.  The goal is to have students pray with Flat Francis and to include him in family time while he is at their home.  Each child will take some pictures of their time with Flat Francis and share some of what was special about having him at home with the class when they return the packet to school.   Gavin Finnegan will bring Flat Francis home this week.

  • The weekly Star selected on Friday was Andrew D’Augustine

  • Thursday is Valentine’s Day if your child is bringing in cards or treats please do not put names on the card’s envelope  just have your child sign the from part.  It is fine to have different boys and/or girls cards (8 girls and 8 boys in 1G).  We will be making a bag for collecting our Valentine cards etc. in class.

  • If you are planning on joining us Friday morning for the Valentine’s Day Poetry Assembly see Dr. Fipp’s email for the details. I am encouraging all of the 1G students to read during the assembly.  I feel confident that they will share what they have written.
