Debbi Gentile | First Grade

Debbi Gentile | First Grade

Welcome to 1G’s  First Grade:

  • Students should be dressed in gym uniforms on Monday of each week.  Please be sure to label their sweat shirts.  Students may bring a water bottle labeled with their name on the outside to use during gym.

  • Please check your child’s Daily Folder each day after school.   After checking on your child’s behavior for the day you need to initial the calendar box and return the chart to their Daily Folder.

  • The math book is used for daily Math Homework that  should be completed as assigned.  Students should be able to do the assigned pages independently as it is a chance for them to review and practice what we learned in class.  Keep the book at home and tear out the page after it is completed for my review. (Keeping the book at home seems to work best for the students. It eliminates the problem of  forgetting to pack it at the end of our day.)

  • First grade lunch is at 11:40  and recess is at 12:05- 12:30.  We will go out for recess with the second grade.  Parents who are helping with recess duty can meet the students outside (back play area) for their recess.   Children may bring toys to school for recess as we discussed at BTS.

  • Students should be using the online component for Superkids at home to play the online games and to read too.  As we discussed at Back to School Night this is a really great way to strengthen the skills we are learning in class.

  • Your child brought home their pencil case on Friday,  please remember to sharpen their pencils for the upcoming week.

  • NEW THIS WEEK  –  6/03/19
  • Parents if your child has a borrowed book from the Katie’s Korner library please be sure to return it to school once they have had a chance to read it at home.  They may keep it at home for a week..

  • SAVE The DATES ….

  • On June 10th,  the students will be singing in  Our 50’s Show/ A Musical Tribute to Celebrate our 60th Anniversary Year/ Time: 8:30-9:30 am – Gym/ More information coming home for your child’s costume for this event.

  • Also, June 11th, 1:45p.m. for Author-Illustrator Day at school.   Everyone should have gotten an invitation with the details included from their child.  (Came home last week)

  • Please be sure that your child has brought in materials for their recycled band instrument.  We will be making them on Monday afternoon, June 3.

  • This will be the last week of homework assignments in first grade.
