Hello to all! I trust everyone had a fulfilling summer. September is upon us and I am both honored and excited to be your child’s teacher this year. I am looking forward to meeting all the goals and challenges that are in store for us. To my “LOVELY & TALENTED” eighth grade students… my, how you’ve grown even since September! Everyone looked so beautiful and handsome as you celebrated with each other under “The Big Top.” The dance committee never fails to impress; yet another reason why you should feel the love of  SJRS. We will meet one more time as a group…

…a very HEARTFELT thank you to my homeroom class and parents for the touching card and gift card. A huge SHOUT OUT to our room moms: Mrs. Sweeney and Mrs. Polistina, who were there every step of the way supporting and facilitating all of the nifty things we have done as a class together; from Halloween candy bags to our yearbook signing party and everything in-between, their help was invaluable! Students, I think you are aware of how very proud I am of you; and how very blessed I feel to have had a small role in your lives (how many times did I get choked up this past week??!) And, yes… I have FINALLY read my memory booklet that you made with Mrs. Sullivan… YUP, still weepy!!! Miss you already, God Bless ALWAYS!

AMERICAN NATION TEXT BOOK:~Familiarize yourself with text book online component: Go to Select Course Content, select Companion Web Sites, select Social Studies, select American Nation Text Book, select “Beginnings…” scroll through table of contents & select current Chapter. Top right, select Chapter Self Test and take the 20 question assessment.

~Please bring your CLEANED OUT text book to class everyday this week. I will be collecting them at some point. Remove book socks, unfold any crimped page corners and removed any loose papers. Thank you!

*SISTER JUDY’s WORKS OF MERCY: New books were collected for the children at Shore Memorial Hospital… sharing literacy & love!
*LENTEN LUNCHEON: Choir students will sing and Student Council will help serve our annual Lenten Luncheon. Faith in action!!
*SPRING GALA: A round of applause for ALL who made the Spring Gala a wonderful success. Extended gratitude to the Gala Committee, our Advancement Director, our School Board Members, Father Jaromir, Dr. Fipp, Administration, our Parents, Faculty and Staff and the MULTITUDE of SPONSORS who created such a lovely testament to Officer Josh Vadell. His light is an inspiration to us all!
*SOUP & STATIONS: SJRS hosted this very special event during the Lenten Season. Thanks to all who contributed soup, bread, butter and drink and served the community who attended. Well done!
*SANDWICH SERVICE PROJECT: Students in grade 1 and grade 6 teamed up together to make over 11oo sandwiches for the Atlantic City Rescue Mission. Doesn’t that just make your heart (and belly) feel good! Congratulations and gratitude to our teachers, students and family volunteers who donated food stuffs to complete such a worthy and meaningful service mission. We are so blessed as a community to have people who are willing to make a difference in our world, many thanks to all who participated!!
*CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK: So much fun and celebration 🙂
*CHRISTMAS CHEER: Special blessings for the first floor students who went Christmas Caroling and delivered cards, notes and placemats to hospital patients. Thanks to each and every student who passed along the Magic of Christmas by believing in the wonder of the Season!!! HO~HO~HO!
*CORNUCOPIA of GRATITUDE:  Thanks to Sister Judy’s annual Thanksgiving Appeal, our school family collected over 1100foodstuffs & itemsfor other families in need! 🙂
*SOCKS for SURE: A nod of appreciation to all who donated socks for our October call to duty. Sister Judy was very appreciative of your thoughtfulness and collected 1,140 PAIRS of socks for the needy! 🙂
*GRATITUDE & LUV: for all of you who either walked, donated or did both this past Sunday, 10/14 to benefit our annual Walk To End Hunger and Homelessness. What a wonderful way to get involved and be a part of something for the greater good!! YOU ALL COLLECTIVELY RAISED: $4,331 for the Ecumenical Food Pantry & Adelaide’s Place –Well Done!
*A SPECIAL SHOUT~OUT: to the 2018-2019 STUDENT COUNCIL. All ten members took time out of their last weeks of summer to come to school and help facilitate first floor teachers in setting up their classrooms. Also, many volunteered to assist Mrs. Zinckgraf and Miss Terry with their Pre-K Back-To-School events. KUDOS to you all (and your parents, too) for your kindness and commitment to being leaders of SJRS!
