**MAKE UP TESTS/ASSIGNMENTS — Please note that that if your child needs to make up a test or has any work missing, it goes in on renweb as a zero ONLY UNTIL IT IS MADE UP.  I do this to remind myself and the student that work needs to be made up or missing and so that it does not get overlooked.  Please have your child make arrangements with  me to make up his/her test.  Make up tests are given during recess.

Grade 6:  
**This week we are starting our new novel, Call It Courage by Armstrong Sperry. We will be reading chapter 2 and completing a Study Guide for Chapters 1 and 2.  (Chapter 1 should have been read over the weekend).  Please manage your time and do not complete this entire packet at home.  You have Tuesday and Wednessdy in class to work on it.  There will be a vocabulary quiz on FRIDAY, 11/15.  IF YOU WERE ABSENT ON FRIDAY, 11/8 — THEN YOU NEED TO FINISH THE COMPARE AND CONTRAST ESSAY THAT WE WERE WORKING ON IN CLASS AND HAND IN BY FRIDAY 11/15.

Monday –  Read chapter 2 (chapter 1 should have been read over the weekend); begin Study Guide questions (due Thursday); Vocab. Quiz Friday;  if you were absent on Friday — then you need to complete the compare and contrast essay and hand in by Friday, 11/15
Tuesday – SG questions — due Thursday; vocab. quiz FRIDAY
Wednesday – FINISH SG; vocab. quiz FRIDAY; if you need to finish the compare/contrast essay — it’s due FRIDAY
Thursday – study for vocabulary quiz; COMPARE/CONTRAST ESSAY FOR THOSE WHO STILL NEED TO COMPLETE IT – DUE TOMORROW!!!!

Grade 7:
******This week we will begin our next novel, WONDER by RJ Palacio.   We will be discussing Part 1, which was to be read over the weekend.  You will have part of Monday and all of Tuesday to work on this study guide in class so please manage your time.  We will begin Part 2 on Wednesday of this week.  There will be a vocabulary quiz on the vocabulary from Part 1 on FRIDAY, 11/15.

Grade 8:
***This week we will be finishing our novel/movie compare and contrast essay of the THE GIVER.
***On Tuesday, we are starting our nonfiction drama,The Diary of Anne Frank.   We will be reading this in class together and role playing the various character parts.  There will be a vocabulary quiz on both ACT 1 and ACT 2 vocabulary on FRIDAY, 11/15. 

**On FRIDAY, 11/8 I gave a brief historical background on the Holocaust.  If you were absent, then you need to read over the notes for this lesson that you missed.  You will need to have an understanding of the history behind this story.

**If your child is an auditory learner and would like to listen to the audio version, you can usually find them on Youtube or the app, LibriVox.  However, they will need to know how to cite information from the story when answering questions.

Monday –  vocabulary definitions for ACT 2 due by Thursday; study guide for ACT 1  -finish questions that can be completed based on what we have read thus far; vocab quiz FRIDAY
Tuesday – finish SG for ACT 1 questions that can be completed based on what we have read thus far; ACT 2 vocab due Thursday
Wednesday – finish SG for ACT 1 questions that can be completed based on what we have read thus far; voacb quiz FRIDAY on both ACT 1 and 2 vocab; ACT 2 definitions due TOMORROW
Thursday – vocab. quiz tomorrow; complete SG for ACT 1 questions that can be completed based on what we have read thus far;
Friday– read for 20-30 minutes a night (any book)
